What is a joint account?
You acknowledge that if your account is set up as a joint account, marital account, payable on death ("P.O.D.") account or custodial account, it is your sole responsibility to determine the legal effects of opening and maintaining an account of this nature.

Why is an email address needed?
The Bank will send you emails as part of the Online Account Opening process. After you have opened your account the Bank will email you, only through our secure email in Online Banking, notifications and disclosures. You are required to keep a current email address on file with us.

Why is my social security number required?
Federal law requires us to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person that opens an account. Accordingly, when you apply to open an account, we are required to ask for a government-issued identification number, such as your Social Security number, to assist us in verifying your identity. This information will not be used for any other purpose. We appreciate your cooperation.

What is back up withholding?
A Backup withholding is a mandatory withholding that may be imposed when rules regarding taxpayer identification numbers, (usually a Social Security number) are not met by the individual. Another way for these withholdings to take effect is when a notice is issued by the IRS to withhold on payments to that individual.

Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) is a system of transferring money from one bank account directly to another without any paper money changing hands and is subject to Article 4A of the Uniform Commercial Code - Funds Transfers as adopted by the state in which the account is opened .
